Hooray hooray, today’s the day they gave
Covid shots away to the aged in The Bay!
The parking lot was not crowded, but inside,
The crutches, canes, wheel chairs and walkers
Were stashed in disorder under the watchful
Eye of a porter. I took my place in line with many
Of my kind and inched myself to the head of
The line next to an ancient beauty with blond
Hair coiffed in the air. When the nurse asked
Her name she, with a shadow of shame, whispered
To a replica of herself “What’s my name?” With
Mounting empathy, I was surprised, for when
Asked her Date Of Birth she Exclaimed “Why
It’s today” and, from far, far away sang Happy
Birthday.

Profoundly moving and charming, sad and happy all at once
Here’s to the second shot coming soon!
Here's to CV-free Happy times !
