Coming Out

Writer's picture: glenhaneyglenhaney

He came out in a round-about way. It was

A quiet day with bees making honey in

The blooming roses down by the pond.

She did not Look at him. She wanted to

Remember him as he was before. Before he

Implored her to understand the stain that had

Lain dormant in him as he skimmed across

The thin ice of who he was and who he

Had always been. She turned to look again.

It rewarded her. His smile still tilted

To the right and his eyes had a glint

Of fright which she now understood.

This must have been very difficult to write, Glen, but you did it beautifully. I’m so grateful for the ending.

So many emotions embedded in the verse and in the moment it captures. Tense at the start and peaceful at the finish. Kudos, Glen😘
