Advanced Aging

Advanced aging is a public event.  Total strangers will thoughtfully

inquire if I tire and need to sit. Its not that I don’t care for their caring

but the cumulative concern tends to pile up in heaps that are too deep

to ignore—maybe I am giving off vibes that don’t jibe with an old man that

feels just O.K! The suggestion of humming or skipping in public seems over-

done. Gilbert and Sullivan had some words for that: “Let The Punishment

Fit The Crime” was penned in their famous Mikado for just such situations.
