With the sun as companion, I drove through the

Verdant Countryside to attend to the end of one

Life and the restart of another. My mother,

explicit to the very end, had requested to be

sequestered in a graveyard with a view and a slew

of shade. She would not have chosen Bach, but

to humor me, she would have agreed. The Cellist

arrived with instrument in hand, saying as he

passed: “This is a day for carrying precious things,

I brought Bach on my strings’’. For the saddest

day in my life Bach bathed it with sounds that still

rebound to comfort me a lifetime later. His cello

delves deep in the mystique of emotions that

wreathe our lives with hope and sometimes, surprise!
